Vlog: Mercy's Embrace: So Lively A Chase by Laura Hile +GIVEAWAY!

Mr. Rushworth vs. Mr. Gill, who is the unsuitable suitor?

As Elizabeth refuses to end this Season without an engagement, she is on the hunt for the perfect suitor. There are several men who may or may not fit the bill, Mr. Rushworth, Mr. Elliot, Mr. Farely, and Mr. Gill. While each may think he is a likely contender, this particular scene has Elizabeth comparing the merits of Mr. Rushworth and Mr. Gill.

Hmm. Which man will Elizabeth choose? Maybe she pulls a wild card and goes with her cousin? What are your thoughts? Who would you choose?

  1. "He had a profession, which ment he was a person, a man." :D :D SHOCKING! I love it.
A wonderful scene! I´m really looking forward to reading and finding out whom Elizabeth chooses from this whole dilemma!

    1. Thanks, Katrin! :) Yes, Elizabeth has quite a struggle throughout these three books as to whom she'll choose! She is in a rather difficult situation.

  2. LOL, you can certainly see where her heart lies, now if she can get her brain to go there too! Yes, but his profession would be a bother. That is a dilemma!

    1. Hi Candy! Well, considering Elizabeth balks at the idea of marrying a "common" gentleman or a mere Captain, like her sisters, I think Mr. Gill being a clerk really make Elizabeth question what she wants in life, and with whom will she get it. Hope you enjoy the series! :)

  3. Good thing Mercy's Embrace is fiction, because her choice is up for grabs.

If it were real life, Elizabeth would have already made her decision, hands down. She'd marry William Elliot without a blink, hating him all the way down that long aisle ...

At this point, it's all about security for her. Question is, at that dangerous age will Elizabeth risk following her heart? Would I? H'mmmm ...

    1. Laura, at least William Elliot is pleasing on the eyes! And based on his past, I am sure he must be good in "other" areas as well. At least that is something....right? ;)
Thanks so much for your comments, Laura! I love hearing your thoughts! :)

    2. Oh, I agree, Laura! No doubt Elizabeth would marry for money and knowing how much she loves Kellynch Hall she would probably go with Mr. Elliot.

Jakki, you bring up a good point too! LOL! Much better than that horrid kiss of Mr. Rushworth. ;)

  4. A man! A person! Lord, how repulsive! That poor girl. Lol that was really funny.

At least if she chose Mr Elliot she wouldn't have to embroider a new monogram on her things.

    1. LOL, Well, that's one way I have never looked at it before, Monica. I guess she wouldn't have to change her seal for letter or her signature too much (though I bet she has secretly been doodling "Lady Elliot" on paper for some time now)! ;) so glad you enjoyed this!

    2. He's either a Gentleman or a Person (an "it"), that's all. One is acceptable, the other is nonexistent. Dear, proud Elizabeth, so sheltered and shortsighted.

  5. Of course! Things like love, security, stability, etc are nothing to the convenience of not having to embroider more than necessary! It sounds more like an argument that her sister Mary would use.

    1. Hi Erica! I think all of Laura's covers are beautiful, but my fav is So Rough A Course (Book 1)! Love the mask! Maybe that is because I love it when pieces have masquerade balls in them! :)

    2. Hi Erica! Hey, thanks for the kind words about the cover art. I wanted a price tag hanging off the candelabra (to give it, you know, some comic zing?), but the publisher and the artist weren't impressed.

I like the mask design very much, Jakki. And I have to say, the print books are even prettier in person. Perhaps you'll win one, Erica? :) We'll be giving away another for the next review, so do stop by again.

  7. I'm just going to flat-out say what I am thinking: I LOVE THIS SERIES! Everyone who hasn't read it, must GO read it right NOW!

Jakki, you are torturing me with these fantastic vlogs! I wan't to go reread all three books right now! Hmmm... Maybe in October I can?

    1. Meredith, you have made my day. Coming from you, such praise means a lot.

And I agree, it's fun to hear Jakki's vlogs. I read my work aloud to make sure the cadence and flow are right---and to catch missing words. But it's a treat to hear someone else read, especially Jakki who so obviously enjoys what she shares.

    2. Hi Meredith! Oh, to re-read this series! I will hold out until book 4 comes out, then I have an excuse for a "refresher!" ;)
And if you think I'm killing you with these vlogs, just wait for this week's! :)
Laura, I am loving reading your books aloud! The characters are so fun!
