Interview: The Secret Life of Miss Anna Marsh by Ella Quinn

Join me in welcoming author Ella Quinn back to Leatherbound Reviews. Ms. Quinn’s second novel, The Secret Life of Miss Anna Marsh is now available for pre-order. To celebrate, Ella is doing a mini blog tour, and I have the honor of interviewing Ms. Quinn about her upcoming release. Anna Marsh’s story sounds just as good as Lady Phoebe’s!

Tell us about Anna and Lord Rutherford. They have known each other since they were children. Can you tell us a little about their history?
Rutherford was Anna’s brother’s Harry’s best friend, and closest neighbor. They were ten when Anna was born. Harry bonded with Anna immediately, and spent a lot of time with her, so Rutherford did as well. Anna decided early on that she wanted to marry Rutherford, and he intended to marry her as well, but waited too long to ask which created a world of problems.

This is book two in The Marriage Game series. What has been your favorite part about writing this series so far?
The characters. When I first realized I was writing a series, I had a fear of the books being too similar. I’m on book #5 and so far, I don’t think that’s happened. I also enjoy bringing back the characters. They are like old friends one wants to visit with.

So far you have written hero-returns-home-to-seek-out-long-lost-love and longtime-friends-become-lovers tropes. With these written and several more planned, what is your favorite theme to write? Is there one that intrigues you more than others?
I have a penchant for the have-to-marry trope, and there are so many different variations on the theme that can happen during the Regency.

What is it that drew you in to writing Regency romances? Why not another genre?
The first story my muse gave me was a Regency, and I love it. I’ve been reading Regencies for over 40 years. I adore everything about the period. In some respects it was a place out of time, like the late 1960’s of the 20th century.

What’s your favorite part of the writer’s journey or your favorite thing about being an author?
Aside from the fantastic friends I’ve made? Being able to write stories that people want to read. One reviewer sent me a copy of the review she plans to post on The Seduction of Lady Phoebe. It was so lovely it brought tears to my eyes.

Finally, what can readers look forward to when reading The Secret Life of Miss Anna Marsh?
Spies, smugglers and happily ever afters.

Sounds wonderful! Thank you, Ella for joining me today. I hope The Secret Life of Miss Anna Marsh sees much success!

Jakki thank you so much for having me on today. I really enjoyed it.

Sebastian has always known Anna would become his wife someday. He expects few obstacles, but when she dissuades him at every turn he soon realizes there is much more to this intriguing woman. Somehow he must prove to her that they are meant to be together. But first he must unravel the seductive mystery that is Miss Anna Marsh…

    1. Nancy, thank you so much. They do tend to do what they want. Some people don't believe me when I tell them I have very little control over my characters.
