After Elizabeth Bennet refuses Mr. Darcy's offer of marriage, it takes a heavy toll on him. He withdraws to London and disappears near the docks, away from family, friends, and acquaintances. When he is mistaken for an escaped pirate, he is thrust into an adventure he would never have imagined. Will this be what he needs to forget the one woman he had come to love?
When her aunt and uncle have to cancel their plans to tour the Lake District, Elizabeth Bennet has the opportunity to sail to the Isles of Scilly with her father. After a pleasant visit, the voyage home brings storms, a shipwreck, and pirates! When she is rescued by gallant Captain Smith, she finds herself inexplicably drawn to him. What will she do when she discovers he is the very man whose offer of marriage she refused just a few months earlier?

Pirates?! I love this idea, it's such fun! It would be interesting to see Mr Darcy letting his hair down and not being a proper gentleman!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to enter your giveaway, my twitter name is @Frawli1978
And I tweeted it too: https://twitter.com/Frawli1978/status/337857027529396224
DeleteLol! Yes, Mr. Darcy is letting his hair down...literally! ;) This is quite a different and fun story! I hope you get to enjoy it sooner than later, Ceri! Best of luck in the giveaway!
DeleteI love the cover of Pirates and Prejudice. What a great idea for a Darcy and Elizabeth story!♥❤♥ I look forward to reading it!
ReplyDeleteI think the cover is beautiful too, P O! I am amazed at how creative authors can be with their covers. Hope you enjoy this story. :) Thanks so much for stopping by.
Deletehahahaha, Ooooooooh wow ... Darcy as a pirate ... I think I like this idea, actually ;o) And that cover!
ReplyDelete@RivkaBelle <3
Howdy, Rebecca! I think this is the first time we have seen this premise, and I like it! Hope you do too! Best of luck in the giveaway!
DeleteWhat intrigues me is an excerpt that I read about it during September's Austenesque Extravaganza. I've been hooked ever since...and that it is by Kara Louise. That alone is enough said for me! Don't enter me in the giveaway as I will be getting my own copy. I can't wait for your interview May 30th.
ReplyDeleteMe too, Janet! Have you read the other excerpts Kara has posted on her blog?
DeleteI love variations like this--Darcy as a pirate? I love seeing how the authors change the characters to fit the variation, but how they keep them still the same characters we know and love. And Kara Louise is one of my favorite P&P authors anyways, so this will be fantastic! Can't wait to read it. :)
ReplyDeletearaminta18 at gmail dot com
She's one of my favorite authors too, Araminta! Hope you get to enjoy the story soon! Good luck in the giveaway. :)

Love the idea that Darcy would be totally out of his comfort zone and to read about his efforts to survive
ReplyDeletemeikleblog at gmail dot com
Hi Vesper! It is fun seeing Darcy out of his comfort zone, isn't it? Kara as some excerpts posted on her blog (Click her name in opening paragraph. It's a link to her blog) to whet your appetite. :)

Whenever I think of pirates, Johnny Depp comes to mind. Darcy and pirates? I am getting an image of Colin Firth dressed like Jack Sparrow. Very interesting.
ReplyDeleteOh! I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Colin Firth dressed like Jack Sparrow. Might be interesting, indeed! :)
DeleteI love this premise - it's the only P&P variation with pirates that I know of! I want to see Darcy being scruffy and that moment when Lizzy realizes her hero is actually THE Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy! :)
ReplyDelete@jaffobsession
Now how funny would it be if Miss Bingley saw THE Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy in such a state. Do you think it would put her off, or would Pemberley and 10,000 a year still hold her interest?

I love the idea that Darcy gets a second chance to have Elizabeth fall in love with him, having no idea that he's the same man she previously refused.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It is always interesting to see how their second chance at love plays out. Good luck in the giveaway! :)

Pirates in Pride and Prejudice? I think it is very original and I look forward to Mr Darcy's alter ego, Captain Smith. Will the captain be somewhat like Jack Sparrow, suave and witty. And how could Elizabeth not recognise he is Darcy?
ReplyDeleteevangelineace2020(at)yahoo(dot)com
Hi Luthien! I know Darcy has a beard, long hair, pirate clothes, & an unpolished dialect. I guess it's that combination that keeps her from figuring it out right away. I look forward to hearing your thoughts once you get to read the story. :)
DeleteGood luck in the giveaway!
I love pirates, and how fun to mix my favorite literary hero (Darcy) with them! I'm totally intrigued by how Darcy would act as a pirate and how Darcy the Pirate could possibly win Elizabeth!
ReplyDeletenicolerjlapierre [at] gmail [dot] com
I hope you enjoy Darcy as a Pirate, Nicole. I think the premise sounds interesting and unique.
DeleteBest of luck in the giveaway! :)
Sounds like an original book idea for Darcy and Lizzy and has to be exciting!
ReplyDeletecatbooks(at)rocketmail(dot)com
Hi Michelle. Thanks for stopping by. Good luck in the giveaway. :)
DeleteIve read other varitations of P&P and really enjoyed them! So I bet I will also fall in love with this one! Plus I am going to Cancun so a pirate read is in order! :D
ReplyDeletexeno_turtle(at)yahoo(dot)com
Wow! Cancun! Have fun! I think this would be a perfect book for your travels! :) Good luck in the giveaway.
DeleteWell, I love any book set in the Age of Sail even if the characters are pirates and I adore Jane Austen stories so put them together and I'm very interested. I also think it amusing to take Darcy's character and make him a pirate.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway opportunity.

This book sounds like it has many characteristics you like in a book, Sophia. I hope you find it enjoyable. I will be looking forward to your review whenever you read this. :)
DeleteI think what intrigues me most about Pride & Prejudice plus pirates is that... Darcy just seems like he would be so flustered in that situation!
ReplyDeleterealityisnovel at g mail dot com

Thanks for stopping by, RIN! I can totally see Darcy being flustered--especially this far out of his comfort zone. Best of luck in the giveaway!

Pirates & Prejudice sounds like a win-win for you, Heidi! Thanks for entering the giveaway! :)
DeleteThey are complete opposites, but pirates have rules just like the times in Pride and Prejudice. Thanks for having the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteharnessrose(at)yahoo(dot)com
Good luck in the giveaway, Rose. Thanks so much for stopping by. :)
DeleteHeh-heh! This sounds like great fun. Poor Darcy getting drawn out of his comfort zone - Lady Catherine would be shocked! Too bad Colonel Fitzwilliam is in the army and not the navy, as he could have to arrest his own cousin.
ReplyDeleteOops, this is me: junewilliams7 {at} yahoo {dot} {com}
DeleteHi June! Yes. Lady C & Miss Bingley would be totally shocked and appalled! Oh, it would have been neat to see Col. Fitzwilliam play that party. Thanks for entering the giveaway! :)
DeleteI am sad to report that I have never read Pride and Prejudice. Yes, let the lynching begin! But, I LOVE pirates and I love books that are either retellings or variations of original classic tales so that is why I would love to read this book.

Oh, Danielle, no lynching here. ;) There simply are too many books and not nearly enough time to even make a dent in one's TBR pile.I hope you have a chance to read this! Thanks so much for stopping by & entering the giveaway. Good luck! :)
DeleteThe author's page mentioned that Elizabeth's sisters had actually gone to some islands that were overrun by pirates! Lookin' forward to the mayhem, hook, line, and sinker!

DeleteI love Darcy and Elizabeth...always thought there was a little of the rogue in him...given the freedom from the strict rules he lives by...I think Darcy would make an awesome pirate...thanks for the giveaway...always find new reads to add to my TBR list

ReplyDeleteHi Dianne! What a wonderful gift this would be for your daughter! This sounds like it is right up her ally. I bet her graduation was a happy time, but a bit sad as she is all grown up now. Best of luck in the giveaway! :)

Pirates and Austen = two of my favourite things to watch/read about. I'm a die hard Pirates of the Caribbean fan and I'm off to do my Master's this fall which will end in a thesis on none other than Jane herself! The fact that Keira Knightly just happens to play Elizabeth Bennett and Elizabeth Swann...coincidence? I think not!
ReplyDeleteblr098(at)hotmail(dot)com
Lol, Brandy! I have thought that same thing many times about Keira Knightly and the roles she has played. :) I don't think it's a coincidence either. ;) Best of luck in the giveaway!

In response to your question of
What intrigues you about reading a Pride and Prejudice variation with pirates or any other aspect of this story you find interesting.
What intrigues me to read this would be to find out just how different it is from the original.
Pirates spark the image of danger, swearing and drinking rum.
