A Summer in Europe Vlog

In A Summer in Europe, Gwendolyn Reese is gifted a five-week tour of Europe with her aunt’s Sudoku & Mahjongg club. This sixty and older group reminds me of the golden-agers in Betty White's new television show, Off Their Rockers. Aunt Bea and friends really know how to have a good time and how to get the most out of life.

Here’s just a glimpse of what Gwen is in store for this summer, and of the liveliness of the S&M Club:

As you can see, Aunt Bea and her S&M club are a hoot! I found myself cracking up at their antics. They truly added to the enjoyment of A Summer in Europe.

Are you planning any trips this summer? If so, are you going to be in the company of your own Aunt Bea and company?
How do you want to be perceived or behave when you reach your golden years?

We do not do much during the summer as this is the demanding time for my husband’s job. However, we are going to try to get to the beach with our cousins for a few days, and the kids and I will be heading to Huntsville, AL to visit my husband’s aunt. Other than that, it will be a low key summer: pool, park, zoo, fountains, and any other free event!
I truly hope that as I age, I continue to enjoy life and make the most of it, just like Aunt Bea and her friends.

  3. I can't wait to read this! Maybe this time I'll win one! ;) lol!

As far as plans this summer, I had quite a few plans. I wanted to do a big road trip with my two youngest kids. We planned on going to Arkansas, Ohio, Montana, then on back home to Arizona. But after two trips to Texas a month apart (a total of about 60 hours on the road) I think my traveling days are over for a while.

    1. 60 hours on the road, that's a lot! That sounds like it would have been a fun trip, Candy! I hear Montana is beautiful! Hope you enjoy your summer nonetheless! :)

  4. You're really selling shirts, Jakki? That's so cool! Lol

I honestly haven't thought much about what I'll be doing when I'm Aunt Bea's age, other than our GGW tour of Europe, of course. ;) My grandparents are in their mid-70s and in a lot of ways they have mellowed out as they've gotten older, my grandmothers especially. They're all 4 pretty active and I don't think of them as old. My grandpas take my nieces target shooting, fishing and tractor riding, and my grandmas teach them guitar and painting.

    Great job on your vlog!

    1. Yep! I'm a real Jakk-of-all-trades! ;) Don't look too close, my letters are crooked.
Wow! That is great your grandparents are in such good health and are teaching your nieces so many fun things! You are really lucky to have both sets of grandparents alive!
BTW, started my GGW fund-I've got $5 saved! ;) Good thing I have about 35 years to save! ;)

  5. Lol I know, if I start saving now, by the time we go I may have enough to rent a floating raft across the Atlantic and one night in a hotel. Actually, I'm trying to use the 2013 JASNA conference as motivation to both save money and lose weight, so we'll see how that goes.

I didn't realize until very recently how rare it is for someone my age (*cough*...21...) to have all 4 grandparents alive. My stepmother's parents are both living and in excellent health, as well.

    1. My, 21, you *are* young, Monica! ;) since my mom was much older when she had me, I only knew 3 of my grandparents. Two passed away when I was a toddler & the last one when I was in 8th grade! That is great yours are in excellent health! I hope it stays like that for many years to come!

  6. You're so cute, Jakki! I would love to go to Europe ~ anywhere and everywhere! But that probably won't happen until my kids are all grown and gone. :P

The book sounds absolutely fantastic and would love to read it and win a copy! :D

    PS. Love the shirt!

  7. Sadly I'm not planning on any trips this summer. It gets pretty busy where I work during the summer. I am going to see my cousin when she visits in July though. =]
