As the new year is upon us, I have joined my first reading challenge for
2013: the Regency Romance Reading Challenge, hosted by Austenprose and
featuring the talented Candice Hern. This is one challenge I am rather excited
about. As a Georgette Heyer fan, I stumbled across Hern’s writing last
year and immediately fell in love with her writing style and historical
accuracy. I also enjoy following Candice Hern on Facebook so I can see all
the magnificent Regency and Georgian artifacts she acquires for her collection.
So far, I have taken joy in the five Hern novels I have read: Just One of Those Flings, Lady Be Bad, Desperate Measures, A Proper Companion and The Best of Intentions,
making me all the more excited for this new reading challenge.
There are several different levels of participation for this challenge.
I have decided to go down the middle and participate as a Disciple, committing
to read 3-5 novels and short stories between now and September 30th.
Here are Hern’s pieces that I am planning on reading:
The Social Climber (Hern’s next release, given it will be published
in time. If not, I will choose a different novel).
If you are interested in the Regency Romance Reading Challenge, head over to
Austenprose to find out more and to sign up.
I think i signed up for this one too. I didn't realize you could pick a challenge package! :D I failed both of my 2012 challenges I signed up for. :/ Just short 2 books on both. Hopefully this year I'll do better! 2012 was a challenging year for me. I'm looking forward to a better 2013! Happy New Year to you! :)
ReplyDeleteAgh, so close, Candy! Well, there is always this year! ;) Without so much going on, I am sure you will meet all your challenge goals this year! :) It will be fun to see which Hern books you read! Good luck! :)

ReplyDeleteI'll have to check this challenge out! I haven't officially signed up for any yet but I think Austenprose is having a P&P reading challenge also, right? That should be easy-peasy since I'm gonna read 'em anyway.
ReplyDeleteYes, Austenprose is also hosting a P&P Bicentennial Challenge. :) Yep, I'm not thinking that one would be too "challenging!" ;)
Delete....of course, I suppose a "challenge" shouldn't be easy, though,right? lol
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in the challenge and helping to spread the word Jakki. It's helpful that another Janeite has enjoyed her novels too.
