You don't need to read them in order, though if you do, you might get a better picture of Elizabeth and Peter's relationship (since you will be reading that in order) but that hasn't played a large part in the story. You should still fully understand the mystery and plot.
Finally I had time to watch the vlog! This sounds like a great variety of characters. Wonderful.
